Denied in his campaign to get signs on the tollway to promote south suburban businesses, Chicago Southland Convention & Visitors Bureau president Jim Garrett leased billboard space and did the job himself. "We want to convey a simple message: We got stuff," he said. "Otherwise, the driver is totally oblivious."

Orland recording studio on the move
At least one tenant in the path of the village's Main Street Triangle project may have found a new place to set up shop. Recording for the Blind and Dyslexic's Lois C. Klein Studio in Orland Park hopes to move from Orland Plaza into the village's old police station within the next 18 months to two years.

Carlos Zambrano earned his 13th victory on the fourth try and also homered to lift the Cubs to a 3-2 victory over the Cincinnati Reds. Zambrano (13-5) allowed a run and six hits in seven innings. The Cubs’ ace had two no-decisions and a loss in his previous three starts, giving up 17 hits and 15 earned runs in 15 1-3 innings.
