A study released today by Chicago Metropolis 2020 says the Canadian National Railway's plan to divert freight trains to the EJ&E line would ease the freight traffic gridlock in northeastern Illinois and add $267 million to the nation's gross domestic product.

It's official, Charlie Weis staying at Notre Dame
Notre Dame athletic director announced this morning that coach Charlie Weis will return to Notre Dame next season. Swarbrick met with Weis in California on Tuesday to review Notre Dame’s 6-6 season, which ended with five losses in seven games. Weis' career record is 28-21.


A pocketful of memories for Zak Kustok
The Southland has produced some memorable high school football games, but maybe no regular-season game has exceeded the excitement and hostility of Lincoln-Way and Sandburg in 1995. That's because Zak Kustok, the golden-haired, star-in-waiting quarterback at Lincoln-Way, transferred to rival Sandburg prior to his junior year in the summer of '95.
