Ruff says e-mail flap 'politically motivated'
Sporting a patriotic tie, Frankfort Township assessor Paul Ruff sounded launched his bid for re-election as he charged that recent controversy over an offensive e-mail he forwarded was “manufactured” and “politically motivated.”
Blaxican's pal guilty in Sandler movie fraud scheme
Brian Falatovich faces up to five years in prison for forgery and obstruction of justice for his role in the "Blaxican" movie scam. The 46-year-old admitted recruiting 17 friends and relatives into a fraudulent Hollywood investment scheme, taking at least $1.2 million of their cash.
Urban League challenges school funding
The Chicago Urban League is challenging Illinois' school funding system. The group filed a civil rights lawsuit Wednesday in Cook County against the state and the Illinois State Board of Education. It claims funding schools based on property tax revenue is unconstitutional and violates the 2003 Illinois Civil Rights Act.
