The way to 'The Wizard of Oz'

The famed Yellow Brick Road will lead straight to the Lincoln-Way Central High School auditorium beginning Thursday. That is when Curtain Call Theatre will present "The Wizard of Oz" as its 2009 opener.

'The Bowery Boys': Southland native kicks up heels
The spark of Zachary Zube's musical career ignited when, as a child, his family inherited a small organ from an uncle. His early interest blossomed into a love affair with musical theater for the Lansing native who sings, dances and acts.
Carrey lets loose in 'Yes Man'
"Yes Man" is another chance for Jim Carrey to unleash his inner anarchist, and I was surprised to realize how much I had missed the guy. Only twice in this decade - with "Bruce Almighty" and "Me, Myself & Irene" - has he made what could be called a "Jim Carrey comedy."

'The Nutcracker' features several Southlanders
The Joffrey Ballet's "The Nutcracker" will evoke the magic of a yesteryear Christmas when it opens Thursday and runs through Dec. 28 at the Auditorium Theatre in Chicago. As always, the beloved ballet features the Joffrey company with the assistance of a corps of young dancers, many from the Southland.
